Georgioupolis

Georgioupolis is located halfway through the towns of Rethymno and Chania at the island of Crete. It is the beginning of a 10km stretch of beach. Georgioupolis is a lively summer resort. The town is very attractive with its small fishing harbour, it's river and large eucalyptus trees. In Georgioupolis there is a wildlife refuge where various kinds of birds and other animals can be seen. Impressive and beautiful scenery is backed by the panorama of the White Mountains. A causeway from the beach leads you to the tiny church of St. Nicholas, protector of the sea and fisherman.
